In a time without in-person contact, it is amazing to see how well this year’s run of Unfiltered has come together thanks to everyone who contributed. It is thanks to the members of our team who worked exceptionally on all their assigned roles and tasks in order to populate the magazine with content as well as our tutors Kim Blake and Julia Robson, that we were able to receive constructive feedback throughout the course in order to further build on our journalistic abilities. Also, a big thank you to James at Scheinfor designing the website and taking care of all the digital aspects!

WELCOME TO UNFILTERED ONLINE

This is Unfiltered*, an all-inclusive and in-depth publication that was built up over the span of a twelve-week Fashion Publishing and Media Relations course on the BA Fashion Marketing pathway at Regent’s University London.

The magazine was created as an outlet for students to share their findings and research across a variety of topics that piqued their interests, varying between fashion, pop culture, and other world events. From covering fashion shows and upcoming trends to broader issues being faced in an era of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were encouraged to provide nuanced and well-balanced takes from a fresh point of view. Despite not being able to carry out the work behind the magazine in person due to the ongoing pandemic that has confined us to learning from behind our computers, our team was able to come together in order to provide unique and, yes, unfiltered looks into their lives through this magazine, reporting on all the different topics that have caught their attention, no matter where in the world they happened to have been.

in-brief

I used to take these things for granted but this past year has made us look at lots of things from a different perspective. Oh and I love finding treasures in junk shops and boot fairs like the elephant candle holder on the shelf. He was $0.99 in a thrift shop.

During the past year my garden has become very important to me.

Spending quality time with my boyfriend. This to me tops all. Obviously due to the current restrictions in London there isn’t much for us to do, especially as he works five days a week. So for us, it’s enough just being together on the weekends, going for walks, making nice dinners and spending all our spare time together. When he is home is when I shut off from university work.

Another thing that I love doing and find calming but also pleasurable at the same time, is looking after my almost one year-old niece. I love watching her grow, as well as feeding time, and playing games. It’s such a lovely experience watching children grow and learn to walk, talk and also teaching them the best designer fashion as you can see.

During this semester, and especially because in London we are in lockdown, I find I get the most me-time and peace and calm from going out for nice walks in the fresh winter air with my little dog Teddy. Being out on walks is good both exercise-wise and for giving me a much-needed breather in between classes and working on my assignments.

Lastly, I just had to finish off with a sweet little cup of tea. This in hand while working or watching a film - all I need during a bitter Winter afternoon.

To finish off whatever kind of day it was, I can always rely on the moon to be there for comfort. She's beautiful and looks right at you, especially resting right above the water. Sunrise by morning, sunset and moon watching by night - this is where I feel most at peace.

One of my most favorite things to do, no matter the season, is waking up with the sun. I've been here a couple times this semester and it is simply the only place to feel entirely serene and unfazed from all the noise.

Another thing I find peaceful, especially during the current pandemic, is going for walks in nature. Going for a walk in nature is a good way to be mindful - clear the mind, restore energy and connect to yourself.

Pictured is one of my favourite spots at home where I can truly relax and cope with stressful times. Here I enjoy reading books and magazines, listening to podcasts, music, etc.
