In a time without in-person contact, it is amazing to see how well this year’s run of Unfiltered has come together thanks to everyone who contributed. It is thanks to the members of our team who worked exceptionally on all their assigned roles and tasks in order to populate the magazine with content as well as our tutors Kim Blake and Julia Robson, that we were able to receive constructive feedback throughout the course in order to further build on our journalistic abilities. Also, a big thank you to James at Scheinfor designing the website and taking care of all the digital aspects!

WELCOME TO UNFILTERED ONLINE

This is Unfiltered*, an all-inclusive and in-depth publication that was built up over the span of a twelve-week Fashion Publishing and Media Relations course on the BA Fashion Marketing pathway at Regent’s University London.

The magazine was created as an outlet for students to share their findings and research across a variety of topics that piqued their interests, varying between fashion, pop culture, and other world events. From covering fashion shows and upcoming trends to broader issues being faced in an era of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were encouraged to provide nuanced and well-balanced takes from a fresh point of view. Despite not being able to carry out the work behind the magazine in person due to the ongoing pandemic that has confined us to learning from behind our computers, our team was able to come together in order to provide unique and, yes, unfiltered looks into their lives through this magazine, reporting on all the different topics that have caught their attention, no matter where in the world they happened to have been.

Life

Going on walks with my dog is  one of the  most relaxing and peaceful times for me. I really enjoy walking through nature and I find that especially peaceful. I also take her golfing which is another thing that I find relaxing.

As I live in Barcelona, its very easy to just grab a bike and go downtown where the beach is. Usually I go there in the morning as it’s very quiet. I find this spot to be especially peaceful where I can enjoy some company or just a book. It’s very useful to clear my mind and enjoy some me time.

One of the most relaxing and peaceful things for me, is my morning coffee. During this time I just enjoy my coffee thinking about stuff. I do this without anything interfering,  such as my phone. After that I can start my day with such a good mood.

When my family and I went to get vaccinated earlier this month, we made a bit of a detour to the nearest beach afterwards to go on a walk. It was really chilly so we didn't stay long, but it was completely empty, so it felt different in comparison to the last time we'd been. Still, it was really nice to finally go out and be able to just wander a bit without having to worry about much.

I also find peace in reading books and disconnecting a bit. This shelf in my room is quite cluttered with memories and things I find interesting, but it's the only part of my room that is, so I really like it. Also, I just recently got an oil diffuser and haven't slept without turning it on, so that's also been really helpful with sleep and generally winding down.

One of my favourite ways to wind down is to give myself a bit of a 'self care' day where I just let myself wind down with something like a sheet mask. I love taking time to do a bit of a skincare routine after a shower or before bed as the process is really relaxing and my skin always feels so lush afterwards.

Taking the time to look up.

I discovered digital drawing a few years back but learnt to love portrait drawing since quarantine started. When I draw, I enter another world feeling calm and good. As each drawing takes days to finish, I get a few hours a day not to think about anything and go into my own world of imagination.

To get a balance in the current times I enjoy going for walks, especially with my dog. Getting away from the computer or phone screen and having company without having to keep up a conversation certainly helps me to stay positive and be balanced-out now more than ever.

Appreciating sunsets like this.
Simple things can bring the most peace.
